Working with the master was a factor that shaped the design.
Because of his age, he was both directing me about old tops and teaching me how to act on the material.
This thought allowed me to meet with the wood and
begin to solve the wood’s orientation. This form was simple and detail-free, as if it were an archetype, just like the ancient
Japanese tops.
The center of gravity of this top is very much above and the body is in a downward-down form. So it’s hard to find a balance, easy to lose.
However, it has a structure that can rotate for a long time and recover itself even if it stumbles.
